FiberSwitch may be mounted anywhere on the kitchen counter top, or sink top, to safely switch the garbage disposal on and off. FiberSwitch eliminates any chance of electrocution while activating the garbage disposal by isolating the user via fiber optic cable.

                                                FiberSwitch Advantages

0% SHOCK risk

Activate switch with wet hands

Mount switch anywhere

Easy plug-in installation

No code restrictions

Requires only a 3/8" Hole

No wiring required

FiberSwitch can be installed anywhere to control a 120 VAC garbage disposal. Simply, install the optical membrane switch anywhere you desire. Plug the SX921 module into the electrical outlet. Plug the garbage disposal into the sx921 module. Connect the fiber optic cable to the optical membrane switch. No special tools are needed for termination. Just push the fiber into the switch and tighten the locking nut by hand.

Advantage Explained

Fiber Optic Control YES NO NO Plastic optical fiber is durable and will not decay and crack over time. Plastic optical fiber is the perfect insulator between the user and 120V.
Plug In installation YES YES NO The garbage disposal, simply,  plugs into the SX921 control box. Hard wiring is not required.
Electrician for hookup NO NO YES Save money by doing it yourself.
Hole Size for Switch 3/8 inch 1.25 inch N/A Few people have a 1 ¼” drill bit that will go through a stainless steel sink. Almost everyone will have a 3/8” drill bit.
Wet Hands Switching YES YES NO Don’t risk getting shocked with wet hands. The optical membrane switch is inherently safe.
20 Second Timeout YES NO NO The SX921 will turn off automatically in 20 seconds if the user doesn’t depress the optical membrane switch a second time. The 20 second time out extends the life of the disposal by preventing extended periods of dry activations.
Mechanical Movement 1 mm 1 inch N/A The SX921’s only moves 1mm when the optical membrane switch is depressed.
Crud Factor None High N/A The “Crud Factor” is the amount of “Crud” required to make the air switch freeze in the depressed condition.  Since the optical membrane switch does not have any external moving parts, the “Crud Factor” is not an issue.
Corrosion NO NO YES The optical membrane switch will not corrode.
